We invite you to Chutney at Murmur, an evening of Indo-Surinamese music, food, art and coming together!
For this first edition, we wanted to bring together artists and selectors who move through sound with memory, migration and curiosity. From Indo-Surinamese Baithak Gana to Caribbean rhythms, our lineup traces the many routes music travels through people and places.
Mo W/rights
Mo W/rights channels an aged soul through narrative-driven mixes and productions, blending the young with the old, the clean with the dirty, and riddim with balmy jazz chords.
Mo Jakob
Richard Nazier, professionally known as Mo Jakob, is a DJ and musical curator from Rotterdam. His eclectic style moves through jazz, Detroit house, experimental grooves and weird rhythms, shaped by the city’s urban energy and cultural diversity.
AARAV BHAITAK GHANA
Baithak Gana is a music tradition from the Indo-Surinamese community, mixing Hindustani folk with Caribbean influences. AARAV BHAITAK GHANA keeps this tradition alive in the Netherlands through live performance and gathering.
Rotational
Rotterdam-based archivist and DJ Rotational focuses on electronic dance music from South America, Africa and Asia. Expect digitized Kuduro CDs, Baile Funk from Rio, Moroccan Techno from cassette tapes and Puerto Rican Reggaeton heat.
Vintage Voudou
Vintage Voudou celebrates dance music rooted in local traditions from every corner of the globe. Edo Bouman digs deep into the golden age of vinyl, from Ghanaian Highlife and Tamil film music to cumbia, tsifteteli and kaseko.
All India Stereo
All India Stereo is the Amsterdam-based DJ duo of Rumi Kaul and Farid Bawa, rooted in India and shaped by a mix of cultures. Their sets move through South Asian sounds, funk, disco and percussion-heavy selections from around the world.
